SJA provides tuition in all the essentials of sound system design, at every level, to suit each individual’s existing abilities and experience. These include such fundamentals as loudspeaker choice and placement, control and priority of routing, signal dynamic controls, relative level and delay, integrity monitoring etc. With the importance of architectural acoustics and intelligibility assuming greater importance, particularly in the area of voice alarm and other life safety requirements, our electro-acoustic training cuts to the heart of the matter with an understanding of best practice in acoustical excellence in the built environment. Indeed whether the sound system is used for recording, reproduction or reinforcement, the expertise is there.

The same parameters also apply in AV where sightlines, picture size, control of the environment all play their part in the communication process. So often a well meaning engineer is tripped up by a fundamental flaw which renders the system ineffective. The first of which may be that whilst the system can do almost everything, it is so complicated to operate that it is never used. Easy and intuitive controls are the highest priority in system design.

It is one thing to know what to do, but it is another to know how to achieve it, especially within the rigours of a construction site regime. Training courses can also be provided on other key areas including system installation, project management, contract conditions and management, and contract financial management.
