RF Compatability Cable Integrity

RF Compatibility and Cabling Integrity

Most venues host events when ‘the circus comes to town’. Stadia have sports as well as concerts, racecourses have betting and race integrity, and exhibition centres have concerts, too.
With these events come TV broadcasters, sound and lighting rigs, the media pack, a host of other people who pull in for the show and pull out afterwards. Cables left draped along the floor and up the walls not only look awful, they are potential hazards. If temporary cables are laid on top of permanent cables, the latter can be damaged when the temporary cables are pulled out. Proper cable management is achieved by setting in licensing, so that the stakeholders forfeit that money if permanent cabling is damaged.
When it comes to the use of wireless equipment, the fact that someone has a license from Ofcom or that the frequency is exempt from licence does not ensure that it will work without interference. By ensuring RF compatibility between users in your venue, everyone can do their business because they are guaranteed their spectrum free of interference.
Many users say that they will not use a common WLAN network because they are doing financial transactions, or their data must be secure. They do not realise that there are only so many available channels in WLAN and that for everyone to operate and work simultaneously, the carrier systems must be tightly managed as well as being secure. Management systems for RF compatibility cost money to administer, and that cost is recovered from the stakeholders.
Engineering design is not just about hardware; it is about the use of the hardware. SJA will establish a management regime for the wired and wireless systems to ensure that the show goes on, every time.
